Ellin speaks March 2, 2018 at the Century Plaza branch of the Broward Public Library in Deerfield Beach, Florida

Attention Canadian snowbirds and military history enthusiasts! If you live near Century Village’s Deerfield community, or are within driving distance of this Florida area, you won’t want to miss Ellin Bessner’s public lecture and interactive presentation on her new book “Double Threat: Canadian Jews, the Military and WWll”, which tells the story of the 17,000 Canadians of Jewish faith who fought Hitler in uniform in WWll. Until now, Canada hasn’t properly acknowledged the unique experience of this group of servicemen and women, and their important contribution to the Allied victory in the Second World War.  They fought from Dunkirk to D-Day and beyond, with a double reason to enlist: they weren’t only fighting for freedom and democracy but also, to save their own people from Hitler’s Final Solution.
