From Harold Fromstein, also known as “The Angel of the Battlefield”, to Norman Gulko, who spoke Yiddish when trying to capture a group of German soldiers, the Jewish WWII veterans who live or lived at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto, played key roles in helping Canada win the Second World War.

Ellin was privileged to interview many of them while researching her new book “Double Threat: Canadian Jews, the Military and WWII”, published by the University of Toronto Press. On Thursday, January 31, join Ellin at 3:30 p.m. for a lively, interactive session as she shares the untold stories of some of the 17,000 Canadians of Jewish faith who put on a uniform, helped defeat Hitler and rescue the survivors of the Holocaust, especially the current and former residents of Sunnybrook. Books will be available for sale and signing at the event. This event is for residents, family, and friends only.
