Ellin brings the story of Canada’s Hidden WW2 Jewish Heroines to the Lindsay Women’s Probus Club Oct. 26
October 26, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm EDT
Just ahead of Remembrance Day, join Canadian author and journalist Ellin Bessner on October 26, 2021 for a “Zoom” talk on The Untold Story of Canadian Jewish Women who helped win the Second World War.
As a guest of the Lindsay, Ontario’s Women’s Probus Club, Bessner will take a fascinating look at the Canadian Jewish heroines, both at home and at the front, who helped Canada win WWII, but whose contributions to history have never been properly recognized.
“Meet” Bessner’s own great-aunt, Cpl. Daisy Lazare, along with Sgt. Miriam Freedman, S/O Rose Goodman and Pt. Esther (Bubis) Thorley, as well as the legions of Canadian Jewish women volunteers who raised funds, packed boxes, made sandwiches and even built the bombs.
Books will be available for purchase at the local Kent bookstore, or through your favourite booksellers.
