How Jewish jewellers in uniform helped defeat Hitler and win WWII: an interactive lecture for the Canadian Jewellers 24K Club

January 15, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 2:00 pm EST

Did you know that among the million plus Canadians who served in WWII, some jewellers played key roles in the Allied victory? From Sgt. Murray Jacobs, “The Watchmaker of Normandy” to Lt. Col. Gerald Levenston, who took the Allied surrender in May 1945, and Esther Mager, who ran her father’s jewelry store near Montreal’s Golden Mile before joining the RCAF Women’s Division;  the Jewish jewellers’ stories have not been told before. Members will hear Ellin Bessner’s interactive lecture, with special guest Ric Levenston, (son of Lt. Col. Levenston) at the quarterly meeting of the 24K Club of Canada’s Toronto chapter. (Members only).
