In Israel, it is the official Holocaust memorial day, taking place each year on the Hebrew calendar date, 27 Nisan. This year, Yom HaShoah will include the traditional lighting of candles, a poetic reading by the Atlantic Jewish Council Executive Director Naomi Rosenfeld, and a lecture and reading from Ellin Bessner, author of Double Threat: Canadian Jews, the Military, and World War II. A reception and book-signing will follow. This event is presented in partnership with the Atlantic Jewish Council.
